I decided to cancel my cable television service about ten years ago, however my reception is so bad where I live, I just remained numbed to the fact; So I continued to pay the escalating $60.00 + per month, just for the luxury of having that beautiful picture!
I don't watch commercial television! I just watch the two public television stations that are available to me, in my area. Sometimes, I try and find the weather channel and a long the way, I stumble upon something gripping.
Unfortunately, that something gripping, becomes something very disappointing, as at the very moment, that, that something gripping, is to come to light and be unraveled; A commercial comes along and ruins the whole thing for me! After all, it is commercial television!
In May, 2007, I decided to unleash myself from my cable televison harness; This was purely because I was offered a much better deal through my telephone company.
Prior to my absolute decision to cancel my cable televison service; I decided to call my cable provider and ask them about their Basic coverage rates.' I was greeted by a somewhat coherent person and they informed me that my local PBS station, was not included in their $11.00 package, even though, my local PBS station was about ten miles away from the other, Commercial' stations that were included.
I pleasantly hung up my phone and made my decision!
After canceling my cable subscription, I received several solicitations from my now, obsolete cable provider, by mail and especially by telephone, asking me to come back! They apparently, would do anything to appease me! Ha! Ha!
I told my, so called, cable provider that, if they were any good at their business, they would have found a way to satisfy me, during the time that I had been a loyal customer and that in the final hours of those fifteen, subscribing years, they did nothing, other than accept my disconnection and inform me of my refund!
The refund is funny, as after five months, I have not received it, despite a couple of phone calls and a very aggressive disconnection visit, a month after my cancellation. Dare I say, Comcast?!
I am with another provider now and all is good. Unfortunately, I am paying about $30.00 a month, just for that beautiful picture and I am still, only watching my two PBS stations; Well, it is only one now, as my present provider does not carry the other one! But that is alright! I guess?
I am now considering the final conclusion of my last cable television episode!' I am thinking about building an enormous set of rabbit ears, that can give me the reception that I deserve, so that I receive the signal, from my public television station, which is just twenty four miles from my house!
The end!
