While I am not a religious person, I do believe that there is power behind prayer. Some idiot on here suggested that we try praying for lottery numbers. That's childish and immature. Prayer isn't about lottery numbers or getting what YOU want. Prayer is a tool that people use, I believe, in part, to help them cope with everyday life. Millions of people pray everyday. Does that mean they are idiots?

No. They are not idiots. They are community leaders, scientists and doctors.

Prayer gives people hope and there is nothing wrong with hope. Oh, sure, some of you say that believing in God is just hocus pocus. I don't agree. Religion is an important part of our society. Don't believe it? Look at history. While you can easily site examples of how religion has hindered societal process, you can site just as many examples on how religion has advanced civilization.

Let's say you are praying for a sick friend. The act of praying for you friend is a way to show him or her that you care. The act of praying gives you an intrinsic reward. Praying isn't probably going to cause a person to be healed from cancer, but the positive effects of prayer are truly measurable and real.

Don't believe it? Poor you.
