How to build a more meaningful career

In order to have a meaningful career, your career has to have meaning to you. Go into something you like, and what you like you'll be good at or become good at. If you like something then you are more likely to succeed in it.

So don't let money be the only motivation to go in this direction or the other. Consider travel, time, salary, stress, and most importantly; Am I going to like what I'm doing or some what like it.

If you are writer, then try to be a writer. And if you can't make a living off that, then do the next best thing; teach, or be a proofreader, anything in a related field. Also, when you go for a career that you're interested in and excited about, you're more likely to be hired because the person who's interviewing you, will see your desire. A lot of times interviewers will ask: "so why do you wan to work for our company, why do you want to do sales?" When asked these questions you tell them what they want to hear, because if you don't... you won't get the job. BUT if you go for something you're interested in, you won't have to pretend anymore, and in the interview you'll shine. Why? because if you like something, you know about it, if you know about it, you'll be good at it.

Meaning is manufactured by our perspective. We would all prefer to get a job that pays us to do what we love. Am I right? Then why don't we all follow our dreams? Do we give up? I don't want to give up on my dream. I want to get paid to write, and just to say this; for those who ask "so, you want to be a writer?" NO, I am already a writer! Getting paid doesn't make you a writer, writing makes you a writer, loving it makes you a writer, wanting to improve makes you a writer, teaching others how to write, makes you a writer, taking negative and making positive, makes you a writer, writing about writing makes you a writer... getting paid is secondary.

But I will not give up on my dream, I refuse. I can't. I might get a job I hate, but trust me, I'll be writing on the side; and you know what... it's ok that I might hate my job, because it will give me material for my writing. Use every experience you have to your advantage and create something from it.

You want meaning in your career? You do, that's good... so make the meaning. follow your dreams, work hard, and try to enjoy yourself. Good luck.
