When a man and woman come together in marriage, they are literally entering into a union that is both physical and spiritual. When a couple puts God first in their marriage, they will be closer to one another and can overcome obstacles that come their way much easier.
Jesus loved us even though we were in a very unlovable state. He loved us so much that he was willing to lay down his very life for us. Likewise, we are to love our spouses unconditionally. Yes, that means even when they are being unlovable.
It is important for wives to remember that we should not forsake our husbands the coming together with us in intimacy. The bible speaks very clearly about the topic of sex in marriage.
I Corinthians Chapter 7 verse four and five from the King James Version of the Bible clearly tells us:
"The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency."
Just as Christians have a covenant with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman.
The way we treat our spouse should bring glory to the Lord. Our Love for one another is a testimony to those who are watching. How we treat each other determines if our testimony glorifies the Lord.
Both spouses are to honor the marriage by forsaking all others in order to keep the marriage bed un-defiled. The marriage bed is where the husband and wife come together as one in the most intimate way. This is not to be shared with any one outside of the marriage.
When a couple shares themselves with each other in the way in which God intended, their time together becomes an intimate and exciting experience that transcends the physical and becomes a spiritual experience.
In our marriage, my husband and I believe we are to Love, honor and cherish one another. We desire for God to be glorified through our marriage and our lives. We feel it is important to make sure we do not do anything that could bring dishonor or embarrassment to each other.
Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman in which the two become one.
