I am going to vote for the small side here, but I am going to say that it really depends on the individual which is better. There are advantages and disadvantages to working for either a small business or a large corporation.

Obviously if you are someone interested in climbing the corporate ladder who aspires to be an executive in a high powered position and you plan on making your career your priority then you would likely be better off working for a large corporation, there is likely many jobs with in the corporation that you can aspire to some day have, and if you don't like the department you are working in you can usually transfer to another one, with out losing benefits or putting your profit sharing at risk.

Also on the large corporation advantage is the benefits. Most large corporations have excellent benefit packages, that give you good health insurance and retirement benefits among others. Some small business owners may not be able to afford such things or can not afford the best benefits possible.

With that being said if you are able to obtain employment in a small business that is able to provide these essential benefits than a small business can be a wonderful place to work.

People who work in small businesses are usually more like family than co-workers. You work in an environment where everyone there is essential and is willing to jump in and help each other out. Many times when you work for a small business you don't see a lot of the back stabbing and passing the buck that you see in a large corporation. There is no need there, no one is trying to get ahead of anyone else, you all pretty much know your place and most of the people there are working for the good of the business. Everyone covers everyone else because this is essential for helping the business to thrive.

Another advantage is that the employees usually know the owner of the company very well and they know you. They are more likely to treat you like a relative or a friend and they tend to care more about you as a human being rather than just another employee on the payroll. This can be an advantage as they will be more likely to let you do things like go the doctor if you need to during the day without docking your pay, or making you use sick time or vacation days. They may close early on Holidays like Halloween so employees can take their kids Trick or Treating. I worked for a small company for 7 years and the owners were very caring, if there was a
