As most parents probably already know, there is nothing that children hate more, then being stuck indoors on rainy days. That is why I have come up with this list of fun activities that you parents can do with your children on just such occasions. Some are best for toddlers others are fun for all ages.
All of the activities I have included are easy to do as well as inexpensive which can always make a difference. I have also included a few educational activities as a way for you to help your child learn something while they are having fun.
Now there are a lot of people who would suggest that you should simply pop a children's video in the VCR or DVD player and let them entertain themselves. While that might be an option for toddlers and older children, in my opinion it's not a very productive or fun past time.
All of the activities I have suggested involve you and and your child or children spending quality time away from the tv or computer. My goal in doing this is to try to stay active and prevent you and your family from turning into a couch potatoes.
Making a fun snack with your child is one way of passing some time with your child. Fat free Jello is inexpensive and easy to make. You can let your child stir the package into the water or letting your child add a cup of ice cubes to speed up the setting process. Using cookie cutters to make fun shapes also creates some added fun.
Using water colors to paint a picture with your child is also another fun activity to do. Paint brushes, water colors and large paper sheets of paper can all be found at your local dollar store for about a dollar each product.
Having the whole family get involved in painting the picture will ensure that you spend some quality time together which will help you build a Strong relationship with you child or children.
Making a play fort with your children is also a great way to pass the time. The only thing it requires is for you to be creative with objects that you have around your house. Taking two slightly tall objects that will support a blanket being draped over it, it creates lots of entertainment.
Your child and you can then use your imaginations to create fun adventures either exploring deep caves, or abandoned castles, or any other place that you could possible think of. It will bring out your child's sense of adventure and their imagination.
Playing dress up is also something that my very own children enjoy doing. It provides hours of entertainment for them and the only thing it requires
