Why I hate working in a call center? The question moreover should be "Who doesn't hate working in a call center"? There are so many reason's. I believe a book should be compiled with testimonial's of why people hate working in a call center. It would be listed under horror.

I currently work at a call center for my states Medicaid HMO. All day I am dealing with member's who are unappreciative of their FREE insurance. No matter how much you give someone, they always want more. I get more complaints and people getting downright nasty with how bad the insurance is when it is ABSOLUTELY FREE! I have members calling complaining about a dollar copay for their prescription's at the pharmacy. I WISH my copay at the pharmacy was only a dollar. Then I have other member's who find it necessary to tell me their life story and how little Johnny Sue was climbing the fence in Darryl's yard when he fell and sprained his ankle and he did the same thing last year when...............ALRIGHT.... ......I get the point.

Then you have the member's who want to get very descriptive with their health problem. For an example, there is a discharge from my vagina and it smells. Why do you feel it necessary to tell me this. Just tell me what you need, tell your doctor your health problems. I don't want to know that. Thankfully there is a garbage can near me that I can vomit in.

Of course, you also have the irate member's. I had a man ready to sue us because he couldn't get his medication. I asked him what the medication was he replied, Viagra. I told him sir that is not a covered medication and he screamed at me he NEEDS this. I told him it's not medically necessary so it is not covered. That's when he hung up. HELLO, it's not medically necessary that your penis is erect and don't scream at me because it's not, I am not the one who writes what is and is not covered on our formulary list.

I hate being the bearer of bad news for member's who are sincere. People who need the coverage but got dis-enrolled for whatever reason. I hate being that bad guy. And I hate being chained to my desk all day. Far away from a window, from fresh air and from daylight. I HATE working in a call center!
