Have you ever walked up to someone and noticed that you were somehow captivated by their subtle aroma? You then ask them what they're wearing and they respond with...
"I'm not wearing any perfume." Well, you've just discovered that we all have our own fragrance that's ours and ours alone.
What does this discovery have to do with "his and her fragrances"?
Everything. Let's start off with a gender neutral perfume and apply it to a male.
Women will be drawn to the combination of the male's unique scent combined with a perfume that is something they would already wear themselves. Apply that same neutral perfume to a woman and you'll get a unique fragrance that transcends her natural beauty and aroma.
Why does this work and what is the benefit?
This works because guys that don't normally purchase perfume or cologne are open to the idea of their ladies buying this for them. It's an easy purchase for the lady because she has already made the purchase for herself and doesn't have to browse the guy department looking for a fragrance. Will this same benefit work for a guy making a perfume purchase for his lady? Yes.
But why does it work? What is it about it that captivates us to stop and ponder it further. Let's assume a lady has just applied this perfume and meets her guy who isn't wearing any cologne or perfume. She greets him the usual way with a passionate hug and kiss. What just happened? She has somehow managed to get some of her perfume on him. Does her boyfriend care? No. He just knows he's feeling good because he just spent some time with his lady and the fragrance he smells is nothing else but his ladies fragrance. Would this same event work if the roles were reversed and it was the guy wearing the perfume and the woman not wearing any? Definitely.
That's why his and her fragrances are hot. It's that subtle innuendo that makes them hot. Oh and the perfume manufacturer's now only have to create one fragrance and package just one fragrance. It's a win win scenario for everyone.
His and her fragrances? HOT!
