The methamphetamine epidemic

by TRL

  • Writing Level Star

Methamphetamine (Meth) is taking over our country and is becoming the leading chemical of choice for individuals ingesting and consuming illegal drugs. Questions are raised, yet remain unanswered as to why this powerful manmade chemical is gaining control. It clearly appears this harsh chemical transmits magnetism to the brain that relates similar to the reaction and response of a magnet to lead shavings. Studies reveal the power of Meth and how ingesting it, for many individuals, takes only one time to become addicted. Have you listened to individuals tell the history of their habit; some who continue to use and those who have been incarcerated for it and waste no time after being paroled to begin again and the few that came close to serving time for its involvement? It is astonishing how this chemical can and has manipulated a human being in the manner that it does.

It is quite evident that only one person is truly capable of ending the methamphetamine epidemic. It becomes one's inner personal willpower that can rise above the habit-forming drug. Examples prove that individuals have committed to direct themselves away from the use of Meth, but, most generally for only an indefinite and temporary period of time. Pregnant women who have chosen to immediately eliminate the use of this powerful drug; however, find themselves reconnecting with Meth not long after giving birth. Upscale, working-class citizens with good values, middle class citizens, lower-class citizens, all with good morals; these individuals coming from all walks of life discover themselves caught up in the mix of this high. No punishment is too severe; no child so precious to their life, no loved one so close to their heart or job secure enough to detach a person from this powerful drug. Unless the individual finds the strength within him or herself to take these precious areas of their life and make them supersede their desire for Methamphetamine, Meth will always win.

Users testify how this drug creates an addiction after just one time of ingestion. Some individuals who have been incarcerated for as long as 10 to 15 years find themselves back in the mix of this powerful drug not long after being paroled. If they choose to return to the drug environment, all those years of incarceration, being free of Meth and their time committed to counseling and prayer, soon becomes erased and once again all aspects of the reasons why this person should choose to walk away slowly fades
