Raising minimum wage has it's down sides and it's upsides. Many people argue that
prices would raise and the economy would become a disaster. Small business owners
would suffer the consequences as well as consumers.
Yet there are people forced to work for minimum wage. It's a crisis that's
especially prevalent in rural communities where there are few options. Even in
populated areas where rent starts at six hundred a month many people work for
minimum wage.
Unless lawmakers make changes, homelessness, poverty and hunger will become a
legacy we leave our children and grandchildren. The minimum wage issue must be
addressed, a solution must be found.
The argument that prices would skyrocket, and consumers would foot the bill,
is ludicrous. Prices are increasing on a daily basis, gas, food, electricity, water
and minimum wage has nothing to do with the problem.
Lawmakers need to address the problem and find a solution. The poverty level in
the United States is despicable. A gallon of milk costs the minimum wage earner
an hours work. A gallon and a half of gas and hours work. If we can send billions
to help impoverished countries, why can't we help our own hard working citizen's?
If raising minimum wage would make prices go up, why are they going up
without a raise increase? Many questions no solutions. It's time American's took
a stand and speak up, before we become the impoverished country seeking aid from
other countries. Solutions need to be found, and we are paying good tax dollars
for elected officials to find those solutions.
I think with diligent research, discussions, and some creative mathematics
wages could be raised. Americans need hope. Our economy is failing and unless
wages increase, it will continue to fail.
