Best vacuums to buy

After years of wasted money on upright vacuums, filter bags, and broken belts, I have finally found a vacuum cleaner that is a pleasure to own. I dearly love love The Dyson "Animal"! It is by far the best vacuum I have ever owned.

When my husband and I moved into this house six years ago we again had a vacuum cleaner which needed to be replaced. Even our very expensive Rainbow vacuum cleaner was no longer operable. We had heard good things about Dyson from a dear friend of mine so we went to a home improvement center to look at them. We discovered there was more than one version of the Dyson and they varied in price. I looked at the purple version called The Animal. Though it cost more, The Animal, as the name suggests, was recommended for pet owners as it is advertised to be the best on the market for picking up animal fur. I have to say it has certainly lived up to their word. We have two cats and a small breed dog in the house and there is always fur on the carpet and furniture, sometimes clumps of it. It even clings to the air return and with allergy sensitivities I need to keep the house as free of animal fur as possible. Dyson's The Animal picks it all up beautifully!

The first time I ran my new Dyson I thought it would actually suck the carpet off the floor! It has such great suction compared to any other vacuum I have tried and it has never lost that intense suction power. It requires no bags and has such a convenient and easy to empty canister.

The attachments for doing upholstery, crevices, and other jobs all fit right on the Dyson. I no longer have to worry with a box of vacuum attachments stuffed in a closet or under the bed. They are conveniently at my fingertips every time I need to use them. The wand on which they fit cleverly is contained in the handle when not in use. It took some practice for me to learn how to take the handle off, extend the wand, and replace it, but once I grew accustomed to how it operates, it is easy. The Dyson also came with a separate attachment for upholstery and stairs and is the only attachment which does not fit on and stay with the machine while in use.

Another amazing feature to the Dyson is the belt system that runs the vacuum. With other vacuums I always frequently experienced broken belts but not with the Dyson! We were told when we bought it they were made in such a way so they would not break and seldom ever needed replacement. That alone was a huge selling point for me! We have had our Dyson for well over two years now and it has never broken the belt or ever malfunctioned in any way.

We have flat, commercial grade carpet in the art studio and occasionally a string from it would get caught in a cleaner and break the belt. Even though the Dyson has caught a string of carpet before, the belt did not break or burn up the motor as has happened with other vaccums we have owned. The Dyson has a clutch that will kick in to prevent the motor from being damaged. The suction power remains as strong today as it was the day we brought it home.

Though the Dyson cost more than some other uprights, it is an investment worth ever penny spent. It will actually save money as I no longer have a need to purchase replacement vacuum cleaners every year or two, filter bags, or belt replacements. I would highly recommend a Dyson vacuum to anyone thinking of buying a new upright vacuum!
