Gol'ly...Surprise, Surprise, Surprise.....Pearl Harbor, 9/11, And Methamphetamine epidemic in America. Here in the Islands, it is not at all a surprise that meth is epidemic. The Hawaiian Islands are like Japan's suburb, Japan shares alot of their corruption with us as soon as they can call it in,ship it out or fly it over! Meth, or as we say in Hawaii, "Ice, Batu" has been a huge epidemic here long before it was rampant in the mainland. Hawaii is a small community in the world and one that has had Japan's influence among us for a long time. .....everything that hits Oahu eventually flows to the outer islands. Ice, Batu, Meth, is huge here....devastatingly so. In my community,on a small island it is not at all a surprise that "Ice" has devastated at least one family you know directly or vicariously.Somewhere it was said the Japanese discovered Meth in the 1980's....I'm A believer they brought it right on over to their neighbors in Hawaii to see how it went.....and boy has it been a winner here. Usually it takes a bit of time before Hawaii is hip to whats happening on the mainland, music, movies, news...but when it comes to Asian influence in America, Hawaii is often first.I am not saying the Ice epidemic here is Japan's doing. When the drug arrived here it quickly took root and continues to aid in the destruction of peoples lives, and the meth labs poison our fragile environment.
