After years of wasted money on upright vacuums, filter bags, and replacement belts, I have finally found a vacuum cleaner that I dearly love! That vacuum cleaner is my Dyson Animal.
When my husband and I moved into this house 5 years ago we again had an upright vacuum cleaner in need of replacement so we purchased two new identical uprights on sale at Sears, one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs. Within a year we knew they, too, were a waste of money. Though a name brand, one was completely beyond operating and the other had to be manually stepped on to hold the head to the floor in order to get enough suction to vacuum carpet. That made it impossible for me to use the vacuum cleaner at all as I have a serious lung disease and that task was far too difficult for me.
We had heard good things about Dyson from a very dear friend of mine so we went to Lowe's to look at them. At Lowe's, we discovered there was more than one version of the Dyson vacuum and a varying price range. I looked at the purple version, The Animal. The Animal, as the name suggests, was recommended for pet owners as it is said to be the best on the market for picking up animal fur. I have to say it has certainly lived up to their word! We have two cats and a small breed dog in the house and, needless to say, fur always gets on the carpet and furniture. It seems to also roll in a ball and float around the wood floors of the house like sagebrush through a desserted town. The Dyson picks it up beautifully!
The first time I ran my new Dyson I thought it would suck the carpet off the floor it had such great suction compared to any other vacuum I had ever tried. It has never once lost suction. It requires no bags and has such a convenient and easy to empty canister. The attachments for doing upholstery, crevices, and other jobs all fit right on the Dyson. I no longer have to worry with a box of vacuum attachments stuffed in a closet or under the bed. They are conveniently at my fingertips every time I need to use them and the wand on which they fit is cleverly contained in the handle when not in use. We also were given a box of supplies Dyson Dyzol and Dyson Zorb. The can of Dyzol is rug and carpet spot cleaner and it also works great on upholstery. It removed horrible car upholstery stains caused by my grandchildren that I had thought were impossible to remove and it did not damage the fabric in any way. Zorb is a dry carpet cleaner for heavily soiled areas and is an excellent product. Both the Zorb and Dyzol have a very pleasant odor.
Another amazing feature to the Dyson is the belt system that runs the vacuum. With other vacuums I was always experiencing a broken belt but not with the Dyson! We were told when we purchased the vacuum they were made in a way so they would not break and seldom ever needed replacement. That alone was a huge selling point for me. We have had our Dyson for well over 2 years now and it has never broken the belt or ever malfunctioned in any way. The suction is as strong on it today as it was the day we brought it home. Though the Dyson cost more than some other uprights, it is an investment worth ever penny and will actually save us money since we will not have to purchase replacement vacuum cleaners. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to buy a new upright vacuum!
