American economy: Still dropping

by David Giza

Created on: October 03, 2007

The American economy is dropping because of globalization. Who favors economic globalization? The wealthy bankers and corporations of the world as well as the politicians of both political parties in the United States who service these elites. Who else? The lobbyists who fund the politician's campaigns. Take for example, farm subsidies. The vast majority of the farm subsidies go to wealthy gentleman farmers who aren't really farmers at all. They're just farmers in name only. We should be helping the farmers who own local orchards and have stands at the side of the road. We don't help these people with federal farm subsidies. The U.S. Department of Agriculture represents Archer-Daniels Midland Company and Dole Fruits as opposed to organic food companies.

Another example of the American economy dropping is OPIC (Overseas Private Investment Corporation). This governmental agency is part of the U.S. Treasury Department. Its sole purpose is to help American companies through tax incentives and credits move their facilities to foreign shores. American taxpayers are funding a government agency to move their jobs out of this country. This is an absolute disgrace!
The federal government fails to make significant inroads with illegal immigration. Why don't we fine and punish American companies that hire illegal aliens? It's a slap in the face to legal immigrants and native-born Americans who want jobs. They should get the first crack at jobs because they have been here longer than illegal aliens. Illegal immigrants are lawbreakers and aren't assets to America in any way.
There are many reasons as to why the American economy is dropping but I will end with this final point: people shouldn't be punished for saving and investing money. Winnings from any form of gambling shouldn't be taxed. Investing is included in this because if you analyze it closely, investing is gambling. You are assuming a risk and profits aren't guaranteed.
