How to become a "better" writer in 30 days
One of the first statements I hear when I tell people I'm a writer is they would be a writer too if they had the time. If you are a writer and you don't write because of time constraints, you have to ask yourself if you are serious about becoming a writer. Daily writing is the way to start. Set the timer for ten minutes each day and just write. Write with prompts, there are great writing prompts books or just write whatever comes into your head. But write. If you're committed to writing and you set up a daily writing practice you will be successful. My other tips to becoming a better writer are as follows:
1. Read, read, read. Read the classics, read different genres, and read what's popular and what's not popular.
2. Clean up the clutter on your desk and in your mind.
3. Write daily about things you are passionate about.
4. Never stop learning, take a class, study the craft, find a mentor.
5. Increase your vocabulary.
6. Find a good critique group that will support your dream.
7. Learn how to take constructive criticism and praise.
8. Take yourself seriously but don't lose your sense of humor.
9. Submit, submit, submit.
10.Don't give up after 30 days. Persistence is key!
