Essays: Human understanding

Mightier

Everyday I walk down the street, surprised (and not pleasantly) at what I observe:
Stupidity running rampant and ignorance finding asylem in pretty faces. Meaningless song lyrics filling the air-waves, sending our children the message that art comes by way of the bare mid-drift. Film-makers adapting novels in preservation of the all-mighty dollar, as opposed to their timeless content.

I CAN NO LONGER SIT IDLY BY.

So today, I stand perched at the ready. I reach my hand deep into my bag of tricks, coming up with nothing but a ball-point pen. After all, it IS mightier than the sword.
And by the time I'm finished, I will have filled the streets with enough ink to let the whole world know how it really is-And how this kid from the suburbs knows it should be.
I feel the blood of Hemingway course through my veins as I view all that is through the eyes of Hunter Thompson. Thankfully the words of Truman Copote flow from my hand, while the voice of Gregory McDonald urges me to pull no punches.
The days of the televised revolution are over. Make way for the LITERARY APOCOLYSE.
If I do my job correctly (as is my full intention) the world will never be the same.

And you will come to thank me for it.

Because TRUE POWER lay not in a gun. Nor a cape or a mask. Power in its rawest form comes only when the unknown raises a mirror to all that we hold sacred and asks "Why?"
Then there will be CHANGE. Then there will be PROGRESS.

And then shall we LIVE.

Thanks for reading.
