How to make the best of shopping for clothes at Goodwill

As in all shopping I treat it as an adventure. I love to bargain hunt, and I love to save money because the dollars that I save in one area, I can use to play with in another. Shopping Goodwill stores makes saving money easy! Money that I would have used to purchase clothes at a regular retail store is cut by approximately 80 percent when these same items are purchased instead at the local thrift store.

So if you have never considered shopping for clothing at Goodwill before, try it, the day that you purchase your first designer dress for $2.00 to $10.00 will be the day that you are just as hooked on bargain hunting as I am.

In my never ending hunt for special treasures I have grown accustomed to perusing the Goodwill store on a weekly basis, and in the process, at some point found that I was also making most of my clothing purchases there. I had discovered, just as thousands of others have, that for a mere couple of dollars one can purchase clothing that would otherwise cost upwards and into the hundreds of dollars range. Even more of an advantage to shopping the Goodwill, is the selection of fashions at the Goodwill store, fabrics and designer styles of all makes and all colors are available year round.

Most clothing that is for sale is also in relatively good condition as the stores themselves generally sift through and set aside damaged or stained items to be recycled as rags. This insures that they offer up good quality clothing for sale on their racks. So the only real problem with shopping for clothing in a thrift store arises in the degree of sizing per style available. Most items available are of course, one of a kind. This is where scouring the local thrift stores comes into play! To truly get the best selection for your size you need to frequent the stores on a regular basis thereby increasing your chances of getting first dibs on the newest of items in your size. I visit our local goodwill store at least once a week and when possible try to stop by twice weekly. It pays off!

When really looking for bargains keep in mind that most thrift stores tend to receive an over abundance of items in the spring and summer months so they also tend to offer incentive sales during those months to keep the stock moving. Also note that a lot of goodwill stores do not have a lot of storage room, so bargains can often be found as the seasons change in spring and fall as the stores work to clear out the old stock, in preparation for the new seasons stock to arrive.
