Testimonies: Why I decided to cancel cable television

Deciding to cancel my cable subscription was such a easy decision. Back in the early 80's, my family was one of the first on the block to have Super TV, then several years later we switched to Metrovision Cable. I have to admit as a kid it was awesome! As I got older and moved on my own I found myself sitting at home at night constantly going through the cable channels only to see the same things over and over again, how boring right?

Several years ago, I was sitting in my family room and was once again switching and searching through the cable channels only to see the same things over and over again. Ugh, I needed something better than this!

No sooner than I finally found a channel with something I haven't seen before, I saw a commercial for Direct TV. It piqued my interest, so I looked them up on the Internet. Low and behold, here I have been paying $72.00 to a stinking cable company, when I could be enjoying a better viewing with Direct TV Satellite. How could I pass this deal up?

The next day, I called Direct TV and spoke with one of the most impressive customer representatives I have ever spoken with. She explained all the deals and packages that I could purchase and politely asked if I would be interested in having a tech come out and installing the system in my home. It only took me a few seconds to make up my mind. I set up the date and was happy with my new decision.

The same day, I called my cable company to cancel my subscription. While doing so, the customer rep on the other end developed a slight attitude with me and asked me why I was canceling. I kindly told her that I was tired of paying $72.00 for 100 cable channels when I can get Direct TV, with over 700 channels for less than $100.00. I also complained that this cable company keeps taking off channels and so forth, but yet continues to jack up the monthly bill.

Since this has transpired, I am happy with Direct TV, there is always something interesting on and my bill has remained the same amount each month for the past several years.
