If you are interested in becoming a triathlete you should know that it is not as arduous to do as you may think. Firstly, you will need to evaluate your cardio-vascular health as you may need to condition yourself for a few months in order to properly prepare your body. Consistent use of a treadmill will get you back in shape quickly. Next you will need to judge your swimming ability as this is the part of the triathlon that causes most athletes the largest amount of difficulty. Consider going to a local pool and swimming laps until you are confident with your swimming skills. Remember, working on your endurance is the key.
When running on the treadmill you should be increasing your rate of speed as you feel your body getting into better shape. Likewise you should also ride the stationary bike until you feel confident in your distance riding ability. Hopefully you already own a high quality pair of running shoes and a solid bicycle for your first race. If you need to purchase these items you must make sure they are the right fit for you and your specific needs.
A triathlon begins with a challenging swim, next up is the bike riding portion of the race and the final portion of the race is a long run. Don't worry about where you place in your first race just try to go out there and have fun. If you do this you will finish the race and after that, the sky is the limit. Finishing a triathlon is an exhilarating feeling rivaling the orgasm. You will be happy that you decided to join this rapidly growing sport. Good luck in your quest to becoming a triathlete, with the proper training and mental determination you should not have any problems.
