The most difficult concept for me to grasp has been determining the difference between "me" and my "higher self". As far as I was concerned, I had one inner voice and it sounded the same whether I was thinking a negative or loving thought. How do I trust such a voice? How do I distinguish what is true from what is false? When the realization came to me it didn't actually come in words, it came as a knowing, an understanding. Let me try to put it into words and then share the meditation that followed.
Our physical brain is a complex, highly effective bio-computer designed for one purpose, to keep the body alive. It, like your desktop or laptop, functions according to it's programming. But one truth applies to all computers, they must have a power source to operate. Like the electricity that allows your computer to run, we must also have a power source to animate the body. What is that power source? It is what God created - you, your spirit.
God created a son who was, and is, just like him except for one thing. The son, like all infants, was unconscious. Because God created him, he was perfect but unable to appreciate his perfection. The answer for that issue was to create a situation where the son could learn to appreciate his perfection.
The son needed a situation for learning so the universe was created. Because God is pure love, pure knowledge, the son was broken up into an incalculable number of pieces and his true nature used to animate all aspects of the universe. The objective? The son needed to learn to love himself - all aspects of himself. In order to appreciate his own beauty he had to experience challenge and opportunity. In truth, the universe is animated by only one being but each aspect of that being needs to become conscious of that fact.
Because the son is like God he cannot die, become ill, or even experience pain of any kind but the universe enables him to believe otherwise. How does this manifest in our lives? We need to learn to distinguish between our true identity and the body we have come to identify with. The power that animates us is our real self, the Son of God. This life we often take for granted and ignore has an intelligence so far beyond the brain's capacity to understand that trying creates anxiety. The brain, being designed only to protect the body and function in this world, simply isn't capable of understanding God or our true nature. However, God did give us another organ that can...the
