How to write a solid book review

WRITING A BOOK REVIEW IS AN ART.

It's not just about reading a book. It's not just about liking or hating a book. It's about investigating all aspects of the book and putting your findings across to your readers in a factual but interesting way. So what do you need to consider?

APPEARANCE- does the book beg you to take it off the shelf
PLOT - does it keep the reader interested until the end

CHARACTER - are the characters believable and well-developed
SETTING - has enough emphasis been giving to the setting and do the characters react to it appropraitely
PACE - does the story run along at the right pace and climax at the right point
ORIGINALITY - is the theme fresh and new or tired and boring
IMPACT - do you remember the book afterwards and does it make you want to read more of the author's work
ADDED EXTRAS - does the book include an author profile and additional information for example about the historical setting
COMPARISON - how does it compare to other books of the same genre and to other books by the same author
PRICE - did it represent good value for money

Don't be afraid to put your own point of view in the review. Did you like the book? Why? Would you read any more? And more importantly of all, would you recommend it to others?
