Computer virus is written by a computer programmer. Although a computer virus is a program but it is a kind of malicious software that can do a lot more harm than one can imagine. A virus can either corrupt your computer programs or can permanently damage your hardware.
Damage done to software by a virus can be in many forms. Some of the ways are deleting or duplicating of files and folders, creating new virus infected files and folders and some even can hack your computer. The damages done to hardware can be from minor to major crashes of one or all of the hardware depending upon the virus program. These viruses not only effect individuals but also networks. Thus, they are able to cause destruction at large.
The objective of such programs is monetary gain only. They use or sell such virus programs to make gains for themselves on the cost of others. Thus, they are selfish and are responsible for damaging others property. This is a crime. A crime is an offence or an uncivilized deed. Hurting other civilians in any manner comes under the definition of crime and such people should be punished according to state law. A virus programmer must not be spared because he intentionally harms others. He should be punishes in terms of fine and imprisonment.
Computer virus writers should not be spared because they are some genius inventors. One should see the objective and usefulness of the invention rather than to appreciate just as invention. If a chemist invents any malicious germ and then starts spreading for his gains then, what would be the place of such person in the society? Certainly, he would be punished by the state law and he would never be appreciated for what he had invented. Likewise, a virus programmer should be jailed for his selfish conduct that causes miseries to other people.
