This growing lack of faith in the United States government has less to do with individual actions then it does political parties. The two parties were only united for a few weeks after the 9/11 attacks. After that they went back to the old ways of tearing each other to pieces on the political battlefield. It only showed to average people that gaining the upper hand on the other party was more important. Sure, Democracy may be a great system on paper. But if your voters have no faith in the people that runs the country they live how good is it?

It seems to me that most people don't care about voting any more, I know that I certainly do not care. Why vote when the things you voted people in on get ignored? Why vote for change when you will get the same problems from a different person in different clothes? It's not like the parties are actually going to come to a great agreement and do what is best for their country. They will do whats best for who is shoving the most money in to every pocket they have. If politicians didn't get the amount of money, they get now days no one would run for office. The political moves of the United States are being driven by the power of the once mighty dollar. The dollar is mighty here, but not in other places which seems to be one of the things this nation is forgetting.

I believe that the faith the American public had in it's political system is beyond repair, maybe a series of overhauling the political system would bring back the faith. Here is a good idea for the overhauling, get rid of the political lobbyists!
