Don't you just hate those AOL CD's? I know I do. I get an endless supply of them in the mail. They are everywhere, not just my mailbox. In the grocery stores, at Wal-Mart on those turning stand things or on the wall as you enter or exit. Does AOL really think that they missed someone when they signed up all of America to get their blasted CD's? What's next?...Maybe little robot CD's that talk to you when you go in the store...telling you of all the benefits of AOL? Maybe those little robot CD's will eventually overrun the stores, then the neighborhoods. Who knows, maybe even the world...sending us to do their recruiting for the massive AOL World Domination Tactic. I don't really think that can happen, but you put a whole bunch of snobby rich guys in a room together, and I'd bet that there isn't one of them who is happy with what he's made thus far. Not one that doesn't want everything he can possibly get. It's because of those rich, greedy jerks and their desire to overrun the world with their CD's, that drives me to do as many fun, destructive things with those CD's that I can come up with.
One good thing about the CD's, is that I always have coasters in my home. They've saved me a lot of money in the way of coasters. I haven't had to buy any since about 1998.
I have also designated the walls in one room in my home to AOL CD's. Every time I get another CD, I hang it up on the wall, shiny side out of course. I refuse to advertise for them. My collection has grown very much and now I am almost done with the room. I can't wait...just a few more...muahhhhaaahaaahaa.
Another use for them that I've found is target practice. They make an excellent substitute for clay discs and beer bottles, which, has also saved a ton of money over the years.
A few of my friends and I now have a neat little game to play using the CD's. We have found a hill near town that, ever so slightly, slopes down for about 20-30 feet. Which is just enough for you to slide down the hill with ease if you have 2 CD's attached to an old pair of shoes. The races are pretty exciting and have drawn quite of few spectators, as well as participants.
The CD's also make great bookends once you have enough of them. I suggest putting a stick candle or some other round cylinder shaped thing in the middle of them, so that they will stand up. The shiny side up gives a nice glow when you light the candles. You could take the time to glue them all together if you wanted to completely waste an afternoon. That's not me though. Cheap and easy...that's what works for me as far as junk is concerned.
My friends and I also use them as frisbees. They do fairly well, but also add an interesting and fun twist to the original game.
When I rearrange furniture, I put one under each corner of large objects, so that I can slide the item to where I want it. It took me a little while to get it there without it breaking on me. The trick, I've found, is to put the leg of the furniture directly over the center of the CD. I wouldn't recommend this for tile or wood floors, as it may scratch the floors. It works exceptionally well on carpet though.
I'm sure I could go on and on about this, but I'll leave some creativeness up to you. It's always more fun when you think that you are the only one that has come up with the new idea.
