Are you afraid of expressing yourself?

When you have opinions or beliefs that are not the norm nor widely accepted, you can become very selective regarding which aspects of yourself you are willing to share with others. Often, it takes being ridiculed only once to send your sensitive side running for cover when someone asks what you believe. When the subject matter is something important and sacred to you, it can feel like an attack.

Personally, I often do not say what I really believe or think for that very reason.

Ideally, we grow and strengthen to the point where we feel safe enough within ourselves to flow through life as a whole being with all of us intact and duly represented just as we are. Then it no longer matters what others think of us. The way to get there is different for everyone, and as personal as anything can get.

Ironically, when people seek to find the inner strength of their convictions, they usually delve into these very same private ideals and beliefs to find it. All who seek shall find, I think. There, I have just stated one belief to you now that I never have before. Now, it's your turn.

If people were to share the common goal of becoming fully themselves and unafraid to express and share their uniqueness with the world, rather than judging others, there would be no timidity. There would be only curiosity and acceptance.
