Love at first sight... I don't believe it.

When I was younger, I mistakenly thought that love at was a magical happening that was immediate. Due to my confusion, I learned several difficult lessons of the heart. I learned that love must be earned and you cannot take love for granted. Love can't be taught. One person can't make a love affair work. You can't rush love.

Learning lessons about love has made me respect and want love in my life more than ever. Regardless of the difficult lessons I've learned, I know that love can be absolutely sublime. There is nothing better being breathless with anticipation wistfully thinking of the one you love. Craving your loved one's touch, the sound of their voice, the feel of their hand in yours.

How do we hold onto love? Does love have to be fleeting? I truly believe that when you take time to nurture and cherish the one that you love you will reap great rewards. Treat your relationship like an beautiful blessing and, you will build a relationship with a firm foundation of love that will survive a lifetime. And, that's what we're all searching for isn't it? A love of a lifetime is out there for all of us as long as we're willing to make the effort.

Love must be learned.
