Of course faith should inform an individual's vote. To say that one should remove their religious background is absurd, for one's faith is deeply etched upon their psyche. Even when the individuals of Revolutionary France sought to remove faith from all facets of life, Robespierre merely propped up a statue in honor of Reason. Reason would be their goddess, and thus their faith.

Faith is something that defines who you are. It is a core principle for a person. Faith can be defined broadly as a belief system, something that gives you purpose and direction. This can be based upon the teachings of Jesus, Mohammad, Moses, Buddha, Plato, Reason/Science, or obscure pagan cults. Reason and modern thought happens to define people in a variety of countries. The pursuit of logical truth defines these people, whether in academia or a distant monastery. We are incredibly impacted by our comprehension of life.

Humans have proscribed things to help shape their existence. Whether it is the fact that a god or goddess-like creature helps give a peasant farmer meaning or if it is the sheer power of individual thought that helps a scholar get through their lives, there always is some supreme concept that helps people to live.

In short, it is impossible to remove someone's faith from their voting habits. Everything in our lives are interconnected and our thoughts are tremendously tied to life experiences. These experiences, albeit religious or otherwise, will always impact our voting records. To think that one can ever get away from faith based voting is both absurd and dishonest.
