As a woman I went back and forth on this issue, because there are so many pros and cons, until I came to the conclusion that breast feeding is a joy and a blessing, just as pregnancy and motherhood are. Breastfeeding is also natural and healthy for both the mother and child, so it should be done where ever it is necessary to feed your child.
At first I thought of modesty, the idea of being anywhere like the mall or church and whipping a breast out, bothered me somewhat, however the reason women have breast is for the survival of the infant she so lovingly brought into the world.
Second I though of other people's reaction, and I thought it is real easy to pass judgment when you are not a mother. Once you become one you want only the best for your child, and studies have shown that breast feeding give the baby healthier milk, does not spoil and it creates a stronger bond between the mother and the child. So other people's reactions would not mean as much as the wellness of my child.
Lastly, It creates secure children, the stronger the bond, the more secure the child. Mother and child are closer, happier, and more confident in themselves and their environment. Why would our society want to change that by substituting the natural biological processes of the mother and replacing it with the cold impersonal glass bottle and rubber nipple.
Let us bring back the natural processes that we were born to do so that our children have a better beginning, and create a world of healthy, secure, loving children. Let the mother breastfeed their children.
