Everyone loves cookies! ....and what could be a more thoughtful Christmas gift for to make for the people you love than a box of SANTA'S own favorite cookies...baked just for them?
SANTA'S FAVORITE OATMEAL COOKIES
1/2 cup softened butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup sifted flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
1/3 cup walnuts (chopped)
Cream butter and sugars well. Mix in egg and vanilla. Add flour, soda and salt. Beat until smooth. Stir in oats and nuts. Divide dough in half and roll into cylinders with 2 inch diameter on a lightly floured board. Wrap cylinders in wax paper and refrigerate at least 2 hours. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cut the cylinders into round slices 1/3 inch thick. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Makes about 28 cookies.
