Reflections on Seeing a Young Man Smile

If I should walk a thousand miles,
And walking, see a thousand smiles.
I never will, not once forget
That slightly upturn look and yet;
although I know twas not for me,
I swear, for all eternity
I'll say it was!

A secret smile, yes barely there,
And yet it warmed the very air.
Reminding me, when just a boy;
your heart so young and full of joy.
You turned your lovely face to me ;
and swore for you, there'd never be
another love!
