Ideology is a concept that is based on beliefs held about the nature of Human ecology. Beliefs are formed out of the subjective ideas that Humans develop in response to Reality. Because reality allows for wide ranges of beliefs it is possible to hold many that are practical enough, but which are clear distortions of the objective reality. That this is so has always been exploited in the power struggles between the social classes. Adam sold Eve the Ideology of a delegating God with mixed results that are only slightly different than they would have been anyway. But the success of Adam's Religion is a spur to further Ideologies and to greater distortions of the ideal natural ecology. The Nazis reached the pinnacle of ideological distortions, with the Bush Whitehouse blatantly employing the same ploy. Machiavelli noted how "religion handed over the world to the wicked who were well aware that men consider how to bear, not to avenge, the injuries of their subjugation." Science is needed to pry into the dynamics and the functions of Ideology, while even Science can become a mere body of Ideologies. Living within Social cultures that have their own lives apart from each new generation, places the Individual in between organic nature and the artefactual culture of his domicile. Certain Idols carry over from early archetypes and they blind the Mind to the objective reality. The Idols of the Tribe and the Idols of the Cave cannot be eliminated, being innate. We cohabit with the Tribe but within our solitary caves and must recognize this or the distortions caused will disturb our practices. The Tribe volunteers both superstitions and passions that corrupt. The bad reputation of Ideology stems mainly from these two idols, blaming them for false religions. The Idol of the Market-place reduces reality to a petty language of commerce, while the Idol of the Theatre reduces it to certain dramatic themes and scenarios. Science was born from the need to assess nature without the distortions of these idols.

Bear in mind that this kind of exploration of concepts brings fear to people. All Religion is a response to fear and ignorance. And that is an ironic fear because it results in exposing the people to every kind of master. Rather than seek the truth they suffer under tyrants. All kinds of stratagems are invoked to milk the public of their earnings in exchange for some solace against the darkness. Then others hit on education as a solution but that winds up serving Industry, not the workers, when their education is prescribed by the master class to serve their interests.

It takes Science to study Ideology and Science intends to describe the concept itself without succumbing to the Idols of distortion. The best approach to Ideologies would follow Jesus' advice about the two roads, one narrow and strait, the other wide but leading to destruction. Objective truth is only one aspect of Reality and we must choose certain strict ideas that ensure the survival of the ecology before concerning ourself with the Idols that distort reality. A set of principles that form an Ideology that is consistent with ecology is to be sought, while ideologies that evoke passions and insecurities are to be rejected.
