Euthanasia

Is killing ever justified? Is suicide a socially and morally acceptable end to our problems? No. And neither is euthanasia. It is, from all possible aspects, a seed of our modern advanced practical society. One that can grow into nothing but a rotten weed. I condemn euthanasia in any form.

Euthanasia is in other words, assisted suicide. The main argument used to support this horrendous practice is that every human being has the right to die with dignity. Therefore, we should painlessly and peacefully put to permanent sleep a patient so that they do not have to live in an undignified way for long. However, if we accept this argument, we are faced with a terrible dilemma. At what point is a human being no longer dignified? At what age, at what level of physical or mental strength, at what point in life? If we let this go on, we will end up killing handicapped babies, because, it will be said, they will be unable to lead a dignified life in society. We will soon be killing our senior citizens as soon as they reach a certain age after which they can no longer work, because, they are no longer productive members of the society. There may even come a point when all the criminals, all the alcoholics, all the abusive men and women will be given euthanasia so that they die before further degrading themselves. This absurdness will never stop.

Euthanasia in the name of alleviating suffering of those who will soon die is also problematic. Millions of humans world-wide are leading undignified lives. Hungry, on the verge of death, barely surviving in war-torn countries, with no respect, no quality of life Is it ethically acceptable to cause a mass genocide that will painlessly put to sleep all these millions of people? Is it? Obviously not. Although euthanasia is basically the same idea. Killing those who no longer have a certain quality of life. Who are suffering. Then what about all those who are emotionally suffering? Those who no longer have any wish to live because they are under so much stress, who feel so much psychological pain. Is it acceptable to assist in the suicide of these unfortunate beings? Do they not have as much right as the one who is physically suffering to have the legal and moral right to end his life. It is impossible to accept one and not the other. And ethically, it is impossible to even consider one of these methods.

It has been proven by many studies that those who wish to end their life are most often suffering from depression. The main reason
