How to reduce employee turnover

EMPLOYEE TURNOVER REDUCTION HINTS
All employers need steady, well trained workers in their establishment.
Healthy companies have a small amount of employee turnover. Unhealthy
companies evidence rapid and repeated employee turnover. May I suggest
some of the following reasons can result in high employee turnover.
a. Companies where employee turnover is high do not pay substantial
wages for the tasks to be performed.
b. There are poor working conditions and complaints about these adverse
conditions are dealt with in an untimely and frivolous manner.

c. The work is demanding and time consuming, over and above normal.
Not enough time is given to complete tasks, or not enough help is
provided to accomplish it.
d. Additional tasks are added to the already overburdened workers without
additional pay.
e. Employees are treated unfairly as a general rule. They are talked down
to or publicly demeaned.
f. Rude supervisors and overseers are tolerated and never reprimanded.
g. Very little praise, if any, is given to the workers at any time.
h. Unsanitary and unpleasant restrooms, break areas, or lounges are
the norm.
i. Poor lighting, bleak surroundings and no ventilation exists.
j. The quality of air in the establishment is detrimental to the health
of the employees.
k. Employers pit employees against each other as a means of manipulation.
l. Workers feel their contribution to the company is meaningless.
m. The business has a poor reputation in the community, and is therefore
perceived as a bad place to work.
n. The business fails to keep its word with its employees.
o. Employees experience payless paydays or bouncing checks.
p. Discrimination is continuously shown.
q. There is little opportunity for advancement.
r. Schedules are continuously changed, and employees are caught off guard.
s. Profanity is allowed on the premises.
t. The company is highly disorganized. There is a lack of communication
between management and staff or workers.
u. Employee disputes are not properly handled.
v. Employee input is not valued or respected.
w. There are few or no benefits associated with the job.
x. People are fired for poor reasons without a chance to explain
y. Workers cannot obtain enough hours of work to make it worth their while.
z. Exceptions to the rules are made for some workers and not others.
