What do we mean by favor? Does society, in general provision greater opportunity for men? Certainly in America it seems that men are still favored despite the strides that equal opportunity and feminism has made toward change. Is this apparent favor because society has not caught up with our legal standard? If we look at our social construct is it serving all members today effectively, do we really want complete equality between the sexes? Are there lines, albeit invisible lines that we don't want crossed? How is favor determined in society today and is it really by gender alone? We worship even those men who fail but then rise up again, bankruptcy is not proof of failure; criminal behavior is not proof of failure; poor personal conduct is not proof of failure. We will continue to root for the man who is prepared to squash his enemy in the battlefield of big business and big money. Let a women behave in similar fashion however, the appellations that will be applied to her are less than complimentary. Society has little patience for women who step outside of the bounds of acceptable and ladylike behavior on her way to the top, we would prefer for her to marry her way to the top rather than succeed through hard work. We remain far more interested in the failures of women than their success; the long fall to the bottom validates our belief that they didn't belong there in the first place.
Does society favor men? Of course it does. It
