Outsourcing: A boom or bust for American business?

Outsourcing is undoubtedly a boom for workers, both in America and in those nations to which the outsourcing goes. The ideologically hidebound 'left' is unable to get past the first fact - that American workers do lose jobs because those jobs go to places where such lower-skilled labor is in more abundant supply, and is thus cheaper.

The left ignores the second fact - that decreasing low-skilled labor benefits the economy by increasing the value-added level of a company's products, by stimulating productivity, and by rippling out to other sectors, to expand, increase, and raise their levels of operation as well.

The left ignores a third fact - that a stimulated, growth-oriented economy is closer to the leading edge of economic activity, meaning it can foresee and adapt more readily to crises as they arise.

The left ignores an implied fact - that the only way to turn back the clock on outsourcing is with the heavy, unadaptable, coercive, dead hand of government and bureaucratic regulation.

Insisting, against all the evidence, that outsourcing is a bust for workers, is to promenade down the European bridle path of economic stagnation, coercive state interventionism, and the compromise of freedoms that inevitably follow the adoption of such ideologically-driven, reality-challenged policies.
