tank, leaving the large growing Koi and his humble companion, the goldfish, for larger outdoor ponds and aquatic gardens.
So for arguments sake, lets say you have chosen to set up your very first tropical tank, the next step, is purchasing the equipment and other things you might need to get your tank up and running. Being tropical, the most vital component of course is the temperature of the water. However, this is not a complicated problem and only requires the addition of a automatic heater to the tank. The size of the heater required, will of course depend on the size of your aquarium and the volume of water it holds. Most commonly, the heater is set at about 25 26 degree Celsius. This will keep most fish relatively happy. Secondly, the water needs to be kept clean and well aerated. The addition of oxygen to the tank can simply be achieved through the use of a small air pump which is then connected to an air stone via a length of air tube. Filtration, however, is a little bit more complicated and should require some consideration. However, in my experience, when it comes to filtration, bigger is always better and there is no such thing as having too much filtration. It may be also important to note that external canister style filters are far superior to internal air driven models.
