Firstly, we have to define Metabolism, when we become quite aware of Metabolism and it's mechanism, then we proceed to select viable metabolic enhancing foods.
Metabolism- An equilibrium between the intake of nutrients and the eventual loss of nutrients, in oder to balance absorption and excretion, this balance is maintained by absorption and excretion of nutrients as seen in massive sweating during exercising, which is a typical example of excretion process.Metabolism may seem simple, familiar and common , but looking further into the processes and mechanism at play , you Will agree with me that,Metabolism is a process that promote healthy living.
Metabolism is also a process of aggregation of all chemical process that take place in the body of all living organisms, promoting growth, energy generating and the elimination through excretion of salts and acids. It also accounts to the distribution of nutrients in the blood after digestion has taken place.
We have two major forms of this process.
(a). Anabolism , the constructive phase where by small molecules of Amino acids , are converted to larger molecules, such as proteins in the body.
(b). Catabolism , the destructive phase where by larger molecules like glycogen are converted to smaller molecules of glucose.
Metabolic Rate.
In order to maintain a suitable body activity, and proper hormonal balance and activity , Digestion , the body metabolic rate must be according to certain level compatible to it for performance.
It will be wise to mention exercise at this juncture. The use of exercise has been helpful in maintaining the body metabolic rate through absorption and excretion.
The breaking down of carbohydrates, proteins ,and fats into smaller units and reorganizing these units as tissue building blocks or as energy sources of the body, and the elimination of wastes are all the useful process of this metabolism.
Metabolic tolerance.
when the body needs to maintain the effects of food and drugs we take, through metabolism the body increases or decreases the rate at which the particular food or drug is assimilated, by breaking down the contents, through anabolism or catabolism as the case may be.
The metabolic pathway include a series of constructive biochemical reactions or steps, through which digested food or drugs transforms into basic nutrients the body needs, like amino acids, fatty acids, carbohydrates and glucose, these nutrients are also expressed as calories, these calories ( energy ), controls the amount of heat the body needs to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water at 1 degree centigrade, at a pressure of 1 atmosphere, a unit of calorie equal to the large calorie used to denote the heat expenditure of an organism as the fluid or energy value of the food or drug we take into our body.
Failure of this metabolism will be death, as this presents as a mental and physical failure of the entire body, which is death.
A well balanced diet that has approved food contents , for example essential fiber, protein, sugar, fat, and all the necessary salts and acids the body need for proper metabolism coupled with good exercising habit will do a great job to provide for the upkeep of normal metabolism to effect a healthy living and prolonged life.
