When your sitting at home with time on your hands and you are looking for an outlet for your creative side, the thought might cross your mind to do some type of craft item. So you decide what to make. You gather your supplies after shopping around for the lowest prices. Now the beautiful handmade item is done and it was easy. Hmmm maybe I could make money doing this. Well the fact is that you can, but then comes the pricing debate.
How much do I charge, how much will the public pay, and last but not least how much is my time worth. A little research is now needed along with the cost of your supplies. Simply you need to decide for yourself how much your time is worth. Then figure that cost plus the cost of your supplies. Look into what the item currently markets for on ebay, craig's list and other sites. You can go to craft fairs and check on prices also talk to the vendors ask if the products are selling this year. Now with all this information sit down and add it all up. Is it worth your time? Is your item unique? Is there a demand for it? If all these answers are yes, then jump in.
Remember you can sell online, at craft fairs, in consignment shops there are possibilities for multiple streams of income from the same item. The biggest key to success in my opinion is good quality and uniqueness of the item. People are willing to pay for quality.
