Why the term "Indian give" is inappropriate

I do not believe the term, "Indian Giver," is politically correct. One reason being...most people in this ethnic group, would appreciate being called, "Native Americans." They are a very proud people and wish to be respected when it comes to their heritage. Indians, is a word, they prefer not to be used.

Using the term, "Indian Giver," matters because there is a history which denotes this term as being used inaccurately when it came to the Native Americans. Many give little recognition for this.

Throughout most of American History, the white man had been making deals with the natives...whose homelands had been taken. The United States, many times went back on many of the deals with the natives. It was the white man who usually "took back" what he had given. Thus, the term Indian giver was used; however, it's meaning is misconstrued. The Native Americans, were never the "Indian Givers."

And, yes, it does matter. Many probably never gave it a second thought when using this term. (Not thinking of its origin, what the meaning truly is, etc..) More than likely, the American Natives took offense to this term and wished it to disappear.

We as Americans, proud Americans, that is...should begin to think first before we use certain terms, words, phrases and the like. None...most anyway, don't wish to offend anyone...or any group.

Aaaaah. What a Beautiful and Pleasant world to live in when there is peace and understanding among fellow human beings! :-)

Let us ALL began being Human GIVERS!
