Benefits of HEPA filters

It has always annoyed me that planes do not have a better air filter system. Whenever I fly, I come down with the flu soon after arriving home. I have asked this question many times. I have been tempted to wear a mask, although not sure if it would really help. If one person coughs near you, then this can soon spread. The answer given is that only approximately fifteen percent of airplanes do not use HEPA filters.

Offices account for one hundred percent use of the HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filters. Why should there be different rules for different situations. These filters if used correctly will cut down the high risk of catching the various diseases. Like the Asian bird flu, we the people cannot let our governments put our lives at unnecessary risk.

Many people believe that HEPA is a brand of filter, this is not correct it is the type of Air filter. A true HEPA filter captures ninety-nine percent of the particles as small as .three microns. Here are some of the particles that a true HEPA filter captures: household dust, human hair, spores from plants, smoke, Mold, bacteria, and dust mite.

Mold
Air flows from areas of higher pressure, so they need to create inward flow to go through any opening in the barrier. It then prevents contamination from escaping into other parts of any building or office, which helps in the prevention of mold.

Vacuum cleaners
Some brands of vacuums are fitted with HEPA filters. Therefore, if you are an asthma or allergy sufferer you should make inquiries about purchasing one of these cleaners with the HEPA filter.

Medical ventilators or respirators
The military uses respirators fitted with the HEPA filters, these are used to help protect against germ warfare. There are many types of either chemical cartridge respirators or mechanical filter respirators.

Therefore I conclude by saying anyone with allergies or asthma sufferers should inquire about the use of these HEPA filters in their home.
