to promote your band and get more fans is to approach local radio or television, and even having a small section in the local newspaper can help you, though here, be sure to let people know where you are playing in the future. Never turn down those gigs that can help increase your fan base because being visible matters, as does being accessible to the fans that enjoy your work.
ONLINE FANS
For those with limited venue possibilities, the arrival of the Internet is a great way to build up a fan base. Sites like OurStage.com offer musicians the chance to be heard all over the world and the potential for fans is only limited by how many people listen to your work. Another way of reaching an audience is to upload your work to your own website, though here, making sure that the website is easily accessible is essential. Hours of effort creating a website that isn't found by the likes of Google is wasted effort. Utube offers wonderful opportunity, though with your own Blog on a popular blog site, you can publicize what you do and add to your fan base.
Here, making sure that everything works, having samples of your work available on the site, and ensuring that fans can leave feedback is a great way of encouraging people to listen to your music, and sites that are created in order to promote music and encourage a fan base should never forget to create an area for those fans. If the music is good, it won't be long before someone contacts you wanting to start a fan club, and many do this simply because they love the music. Here, links could be added, biographies of the band or of the single musician can be added to regularly, inviting fans to read up on your progress and watch you advance.
The little people that listen to your work and like it are the foundation of your success as an artist, and should never be neglected, since these are the seeds that grow into support of a strong nature, and that can help you get recognized as an artist. People are always on the look out for new talent, and by putting your site on-line, or by making your music available, what you are doing is starting to make the ground ready for the seeds to germinate. Who knows ? That letter you write to one fan that wanted a little bit of your time may be the one that sells at auction for millions in years to come, when you hit the big time. For the moment, that one fan is important, as their enthusiasm will spread if handled carefully and appreciated.
The music business is fickle and forever changing though musicians have never had more possibilities than are presented by the Internet to gain fans. Looking at the standard of music produced on Utube and on OurStage, it is easy to see that there is always a new market out there waiting to be grabbed, and it is the fans that determine how successful your music is on the world stage that awaits you.
