Poetry: Memories

Of all the places in the world,
The best ones are not real.
The memories of visiting,
Are what they made you feel.

It might not be a happy place,
You could run for your life.
I've been bashed and brutalized,
And pierced through with a knife.

Things can turn real sour fast,
There's blood that has to spill.
It's not in my real nature,
In dreams I've had to kill.

With luck you'll find a stranger,
That makes you feel so good.
Just for now you're not alone,
Shared thoughts are understood.

Sometimes you're an animal,
Or a human that can fly.
Defy all laws of physics,
And never wonder why.

There's never any warning,
This whole trip could just end.
No chance to have a look around,
Or farewell to a friend.

You can't take nothing from this place,
Cause none of it is true.
You might hold someone in you're arms,
Just can't bring them with you.

Even if you're not that tired,
You might still have it in you.
Close your eyes and concentrate,
With luck you can continue.

Worst fears can come out in dreams,
Like fear of heights or bugs.
The best dreams that I ever had,
While coming of hard drugs.

It took two hours to write this thing,
I've tried to make it rhyme.
I'd love to know just what you thought,
And thank you for your time.
