Getting the best value for your trade in vehicle

Getting the best value for your vehicle on trade in sometimes seems more difficult than it actually is. Before you approach a dealership you should take the time to do research the value of your trade in. There are several websites that can assist you with this. I suggest Kelley Blue Book or NADA Guides websites. You also want to keep in mind that the dealer is going to be looking to make a profit on your vehicle when he sells it. This means in most cases he will be offering you less than the actual value of the vehicle. Now let's discuss things that you can do to ensure that you get the best value on your trade in.

* Keep the mileage on the vehicle as low as possible. If this is your everyday car
this may be difficult. You must remember the more miles that is clocked on your
vehicle the more value that is lost.

* Keep the maintenance up to date. Vehicles that have not been properly maintained
tend to need costly repairs more often than those that are properly serviced.

* In the event that you ever need repairs to the body of the vehicle make sure to
request new parts and no bonding materials. These are things that dealers can
easily pick up on. You will also be faced with the probability that the dealer
will run a car fax report.

As you can see there are many things that affect the value of your vehicle. Most of these start the minute that you drive it off the lot. Other things that will affect your trade in value are the Year, Make, and Model of the vehicle. Some vehicles hold their value better than others. The newer the vehicle is the more it will be worth. If you are unsuccessful in getting the amount that you have in mind, you may want to try to sell the vehicle rather than trade it. When you are selling the vehicle you get to make as much profit as possible without having to consider selling it again, as the dealership will.
