I think that young children learn so quickly that it is really important to keep all activities and toys educational. When you actually get down on the floor and play with them, they tend to focus more on what you are doing, therefore, getting more value out of it. Games are great for a couple of reasons. First of all, they are a lot of fun for everyone. Secondly, they can teach children so much. Here are some of my suggestions for some of the best games for children.
Board games are great for several reasons. First of all, it is a great way to get the whole family together, which with busy lives, doesn't happen a lot. When you actually get down on the floor with your children, they get so much more out of a toy or game. There is only so much that they can learn on their own, the rest you need to teach to them. Take Candy Land for example. This is a perfect game for preschoolers. It teaches them colors, taking turns, and it requires no strategy or skill. The game board is quite colorful and fun, and will keep your little ones busy for hours.
Another thing that I recommend for great learning for children is to purchase a Vtech Vsmile game system. It is around fifty dollars, which is much cheaper than any other video gaming system. The cartridges that go along with them are about twenty dollars, and they are so educational. They are age appropriate, it will tell you on the box what age range they are geared towards, as well as what skills they will learn off of them. Best of all, they have your favorite characters in the game such as Dora and Spongebob, so there is a game to please any child.
You don't even have to go to the store and buy these expensive items. An easy game that you could make would be to take blank recipe cards and place a sticker on one side of them. Make sure you have two of the same cards with the same stickers on them. Make several sets, and there you have a great memory game for the children to play. This is something very simple that even your children would love to sit down at the kitchen table and help you make the cards.
I also think that Legos and building blocks are important for children of all ages. It teaches them to be creative in building things, and it makes their imagination run wild. It really gets them to think. It is a great tool if they are with a group of children because they can put their pieces together and really work together to build something big. These are my suggestions of some of the best educational toys and games for children, but with your imagination, you will be able to make anything educational.
