Teens donning black are individuals who have a super low self esteem. Parents need to pay more attention to their children who want to look this way. These kids need help! There are few that excel in class but the majority are just passing through the halls ways, then grouping themselves with their own kind. These kids are not active student bodies. There is not a club for them. They might graduate and become employed in stores/restaurants where appearance do not matter much. But I have seen some become employed at neighborhood stores where they had to remove their fangs, black nails and rainbow bright hair-shades. Please if I am very wrong I want to read someone saying their Gothic teen graduated from an institution of higher learning. Also, if one pays attention very closely these teens do not have good hygiene which is a sign of depression.
If I had a child whom showed signs of darkness I would question it and seek help. I think it is extremely sad these kids are carried around social gathering and are not approachable because they are introverted individuals. It speaks quite a bit about the parenting skills one has. And another thought is this is not expressing individualism because hordes of them exist. They too are a gang whether we like it or not. Also, the schools I have entered these students are not involved in extracurricular activities other than gravitating towards one another "huddle" is as sporty as it gets for them.
If you must know I have worked in a high school setting and these students are truly lost. I would like to read where one became successful after graduating from high school and I do not mean those old rockers that have been famous for decades. I want to know of actual students that have graduated from class of 1994 to current.
