Poetry: Desperation

Glass Coffin

Waiting for you to wake me up
Shake me
Take the sleep from my eyes
Can you do it
I've been waiting so long
Aching so long
Because no one has

I try and try so many people
Faces blank in my mind's eye
I can't even remember how they tried
But I'm still asleep
And dying on the vine

I don't even remember how I got in here
How I came to peer
At the world from here
From inside a coffin made of glass
Worse than granite
Since I see what I'm missing
Frozen in time
Dying on the vine

Take my body and wake me up
Surely someone can
And you know that's why

I try and try so many people
Faces blank in my mind's eye
I can't even remember how they tried
But I'm still asleep
And dying on the vine

Bite my lip and wake me up
Drain me
Stain me to lift my spell
Shatter this glass
I can't wait anymore
I won't ache anymore
I don't care about scars

I try and try so many people
Faces blank in my mind's eye
I can't even remember how they tried
But I'm still asleep
And dying on the vine

I don't even remember how I got in here
How I came to peer
At the world from here
From inside a coffin made of glass
Worse than granite
Since I see what I'm missing
Frozen in time
Dying on the vine
