Parental control on TV programs is good, as our children do not know what to see and what not. Which is good one and which is not. As a parent it is our/parent's responsibility to lead our children to a proper way and help them to choose between good and bad. Some people may feel that if programs are not fair enough, then it should be shut down. This cannot be accepted! Because some TV programs have lot of information/knowledge to share. TV programs can be compared to rain water, if properly guided/controlled it is useful for drinking or irrigation. Otherwise the same rain water may cause flood, which can be compared to damaging children's attitude/thought process! Children normally takes whatever comes in their way, without judging which is to be taken in and which is to be thrown out. We cannot expect such judgement at this tender age from children.

I know several cartoons like "school bus", "Arthur" , "Barney" etc., all are real good stuff for the children to learn science, friendship, behavior and it provides some mentoring. I do not think a parent can give all that mentor-ship so quickly and in such a fun way, that the child can assimilate them so easily. I do definitely appreciate those TV programs/serials. If parents or teachers started teaching them, it may take several years to penetrate in to a children's mind or make them assimilate it. Because of the fun way of depicting such characters and picturizations, the same knowledge is imparted to the children easily. I have personally observed the penetration of such knowledge and information in children so fast and easily, which they hardly forget in their life.

At the same time all of us one will agree with so much adult shows and scenes going on with movies and some TV programs, which not only diverts a children's energy and attention elsewhere but also may misdirect children at such a tender age. It may create unwanted emotions in growing children and prevent overall growth of personality, education and career.

Keeping in view of the good and bad TV programs, it is a better way to have parental control to decide which are good for viewing and which are not to children. After all, our children deserve to get the best from this world and we need to decide which is best for him/her as parents. Is there anybody in the world who would said water is not required?

It is the parent's responsibility to not only feed their children with proper food and clothing but also feed them with proper discipline, correct information in correct age and nurture them for the future! This can only be achieved through proper control of TV programs to the children and so parental control is a must!
