By the way that the start of la liga has started, i would have to say Real Madrid have got the best shot at the title. They have a good strong team and have been playing very well, consistently. Even with their top scorer from last season injured (Ruud Van Nistlerooy) they are still qwinning games.
Second i would have to go with barcelona. They just have to strong a team to finish lower then second. With Eto, Henry, Messi and Ronaldinho as your strikers, and a solid team everywhere else aswell, theres no excuse that you won't finish in the top 2.
The real battle in la liga this season, will be for the 3rd and 4th qualification spot for the champions league. in my opinion there are 3 or 4 good teams who have the chance to qualify for this these spots, such as Atletico Madrid, Villareal, Valencia and Sevilla.
Valencia are probably the most likely team to claim one of these spots. They normally qualify for the champions league with ease, and have for the past 5-6 seasons at least. They still have a good squad, if villa and morientes stay good up front like they have they shouldnt have any trouble qualifying.
Sevilla had an amazing season last year, finishing second in la liga. Though after the dramatic death of one of their star players, the momentum in the team has gone don, and they havn't been as sharp as needed for one of these spots. Though the season is still a long way from finishing, and if momentum manages to pick up they have a great team and can take one of these places.
Villareal, who finished 5th last season, may break into the top 4 this year with a stumble from Sevilla. They've started the season magnificently well, except for a 4-nil loss to Real Madrid. surprisingly, to me, they coped very well without Diego Forlan, and I would say they'll put up a good fight for 4th place.
Atletico Madrid, They finished 6th last season behind vllareal. They lost Torres which people would expect was the end of good form for them, but since then they have picked up Villareal's superstar Diego Forlan, Simao, Maniche is back from Chelsea, Rodriguez hasn't been injured yet this season, and Aguero is in good form after his huge impact for Argentina in the U-17 World cup.
My final prediction for the top six at the end of la liga is as follows:
Real Madrid
Barcelona
Valencia
Atletic o Madrid
Villareal
Sevilla
