Instant food has never been a part of our culture's way of satisfying our stomach's needs three times a day, so why do we insist on drinking instant coffee day after day, after day? For God's sake we even grow our own food in gardens before buying the instant stuff. Coffee on the other hand we don't need to grow ourselves, unless you're from high in the mountains in a tropical place. Even locally you can find roasters that can offer you the good stuff at a reasonable price. Whether you enjoy your coffee on the lighter side or you like it dark they can hook you up with what your taste buds prefer. This doesn't mean Starbuck's is your next choice to buy your coffee for home. Starbuck's over-roasts their coffee and doesn't take into consideration the quality of their coffee (my opinion). Those of you that weren't aware of this: Starbuck's and McDonald's had a contest on who had the better brewed coffee and McDonald's won hands down!

That gets me to my second point: Those out there that say it all tastes the same needs a great cup of coffee brewed for them. The difference in the aroma, the body and the flavor is so much more fulfilling than a normal cup o' Joe. Many times at a nicer restaurant you will find great coffee served, and many times you will wonder how you can make that yourself. With the resources at hand you should have no problem whatsoever finding great coffee.(my favorite's include Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and PT's Coffee) Embrace supplies like grinders, air tight containers, and the correct filters for the brewing system you have. Mr. Coffee's are not the only brewers out there, for there are many different ways to brew a great cup. For example, percolators and French pressed coffee are two elite ways to master brew.
If you call yourself a java-junkie that's exactly what you are drinkingthe junk! Coffee has become a ginormous part of our civilization and needs greater attention. Folgers' is unfortunately a thing of the past, and in ten years instant coffee will only be seen in the aisle with camping equipment. For those decaf drinker's, no worries since all the greatest whole bean coffees are offered in decaf. I would recommend Swiss Water processed decaf coffees.
We all have the choice to drink instant coffee. It's cheap, it's easy and what you're used to. Do your self and your guests a favor, and learn a little about the ever-growing coffee business and try some of the most delectable coffees available, and remember this: We don't eat instant food, so why drink instant coffee?
