Driving safety from motorcyclist's perspective

I am a motorcyclist. I am also a senior citizen. Therefore, I do not hot rod around on my Goldwing trying to cut off every car driver that I can. I do not do wheelies down the freeway. My bike is quiet and smooth, but, like me, it is getting old and needs TLC. When I am riding on the road, I give motorists of all kinds the respect due to another user of the public road system. I do not cut off other vehicles, and I don't pass cars (or trucks) on the shoulder as I have seen some other bikers do.
In general, just because I like to ride motorcycles doesn't make me a bad motorist. If other vehicles will give me the same respect that I give them, I can have a safe and enjoyable trip.
In my history of riding, I have formulated a few rules which I follow, and which have kept me out of serious trouble.
1. Always act as if the other driver CANNOT see you.
2. Never try to force your right of way rights. (You can be dead right)
3. Never over ride your capabilities. Not everyone can do a wheelie safely.
4. Just because you may be more maneuverable than the SUV in front of you
doesn't mean you can get away with proving it.
5. Remember that trucks put out a powerful current of air on the side and to the
rear. Ride and pass accordingly.
